What is your primary role at Jupiter?
As the CEO and managing partner, I’m responsible for creating and communicating the Vision to our entire team, to our clients and to prospective staff. At Jupiter, our Vision is to become the top firm in this space and I proudly believe that we are well on our way.

Describe your relevant experience?
As is the case for most of the Jupiter expert team, I have many years of commercial, pricing and market access experience on both the manufacturer side (Lilly, Merck and Pharmacia) and building successful consulting teams on the supplier side (Cambridge Pharma, IMS, PriceSpective, and ICON). This broad management experience has helped my teams to price many of the top drugs currently in the market, and we have together delivered over 600 projects.

What do you love about your experience with Jupiter?
Building a top quality team of rock stars is the most important part of the job and also the most rewarding. We’ve been fortunate to land many extremely experienced professionals to our Jupiter team and together we work together to build for the future.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
You’ll typically find me spending time with my family at one of our base locations in the Florida Keys or the Idaho Mountains. We all love the outdoors and frequently play tennis, fish, boat and ski.

What is your primary role at Jupiter?
My role is to develop and work with a team of very talented consultants who consistently provide excellent support to clients with complicated questions.  To achieve this, I also help provide a structure that will allow the team to grow the reputation and value of Jupiter.  It’s a very invigorating role based on mutual learning – from my past experience, from our clients, from my colleagues, from successes and challenges – with the goal of evolving in anticipation of future needs.  It’s a role within a conscious, growing organism.

Describe your relevant experience?
Everything I’ve done up to now is relevant to how I approach what we do – from working at and running different consultancies focused on value and access, to my time with Pfizer, to where I studied and lived.  Apart from working on hundreds of projects, it’s important to mention that I used to save whales.

What do you love about your experience with Jupiter?
If you consider the role I described above, I’d say it’s nice to be part of a conscious, growing organism along with the very skilled colleagues I have here.  I also like diversity, and I have a range of things in front of me on a daily basis:  different clients, different disease states, different challenges, and then there’s the spectrum of issues in business management and growth that I also get to focus on – it’s not boring.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Learning from and helping colleagues, and focusing on how to evolve Jupiter.  Outside of work I’m most likely spending as much time with my family as possible, whether that’s making breakfast, walking to school, enjoying San Francisco (the North Bay), or planning and taking trips to other fun places where there’s good food.

What is your primary role at Jupiter?
As partner, I bring my 15+ years of life science industry experience to our clients and our team.  I am responsible for business development, expanding our network of payer advisors, identifying publication/presentation opportunities, and the professional growth of Jupiter personnel.

Describe your relevant experience?
I began my life science career at Amylin Pharmaceuticals, preparing the market and launching two first-in-class diabetes products, Byetta and Symlin. At Amylin, I worked with a great team, committed to bringing life-changing products to market and where I recognized the crucial role of the payer customer. After Amylin, I joined Vertex Pharmaceuticals and eventually transitioned into managed markets consulting. Over the past 7+ years in consulting, I have spent my waking hours helping clients identify and communicate the value of their technology with the payer and reimbursement system in mind.

What do you love about your experience with Jupiter?
I love tackling the complex issues our innovator clients are facing.  Since business school, I have spent my professional life working to break through the health care system to deliver important therapeutics to people who need them. As the technology to improve peoples’ lives outpaces the health care delivery, Jupiter’s experience is needed more than ever.  We excel at addressing the growing complexity of our clients’ market access issues.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
This is a difficult question to answer as I often say, “I will sleep when our clients’ problems are solved.”  When I’m not actively on site at a client, you can usually find me on Catalina Island with my wife and two kids.  We spend many weekends each Summer and Fall on Catalina.

What is your primary role at Jupiter?
As partner and chief operating officer, my role is to help create the vision for the company and build systems and processes to facilitate attaining that vision. In my spare time, I run the financials, HR, legal and other operational aspects of the business.

Describe your relevant experience?
Prior to joining Jupiter, I spent more than 4 years at ICON plc as a result of their acquisition of PriceSpective, which was a life science consultancy where I worked for the 4 years prior. Throughout my 30+ years in business, I have worked at entrepreneurial companies in operational roles supporting growth and expansion.

What do you love about your experience with Jupiter?
Working with highly motivated and intelligent partners and staff who challenge me every day to push the business to the next level.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I am either in the garden or doing some other project around the house. I love to build things and watch them grow both at home and on the job.

What is your primary role at Jupiter?
In my role, I am responsible for working closely with the partners to deliver the insights to the client questions. I have a considerable interface with the client, from the proposal process through the delivery of the final report. I feel privileged that I can be a part of something bigger, helping our innovator clients advance their technology to get them through the various payment systems to the people that will benefit.

Describe your relevant experience?
The first half of my career was spent in industry, and includes tenures at Neurocrine Biosciences and Amylin Pharmaceuticals, with a focus on pricing and reimbursement strategy, market access optimization and identifying competitive opportunities. This laid the foundation for me to bridge into consulting to advise clients on pricing and market access strategies. I’m driven by the desire to work harder and do more to support the pharmaceutical industry.

What do you love about your experience with Jupiter?
Our clients innovate to advance medicine. With innovation comes opportunities and challenges.
That’s where Jupiter comes in to be a strategic partner. It is important to me that my role at Jupiter ultimately helps drive access to the best medicines available in order to improve patients lives.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
With a young family, I have little spare time! What spare time I do have, I enjoy in San Diego with our kids.

What is your primary role at Jupiter?
As a senior consultant, my role is to leverage my scientific and research background to help our clients gain a complete understanding of the clinical and commercial value of the biopharmaceutical products we assess. I am responsible for developing each project’s structure, managing the day-to-day project responsibilities, mentoring junior staff and maintaining clear and open communication with our clients.

Describe your relevant experience?
I started my career in the life sciences as an academic researcher at the University of California Santa Barbara where I worked on bacterial pathogenesis and vaccine design. During my time at UCSB I found myself gravitating toward translational medicine and after finishing my Ph.D. in molecular microbiology, I went to business school at the Keck Graduate Institute (KGI). After business school, I joined the value strategy consulting group at ICON (formerly PriceSpective) where I spent two years helping clients identify and shape the value of biopharmaceutical assets. I joined Jupiter in 2017, where I have continued to assist clients to bring their innovative technologies to market.

What do you love about your experience with Jupiter?
The team. For me, everything comes out of the team dynamic at Jupiter. The diverse backgrounds and perspectives lead to a dynamic where you are part of a team of experts. This leads to really innovative solutions that I don’t think you would reach in a typical hierarchical model where the perspective of one or two experts is supported by a less experienced staff. This dynamic seems to attract clients with unique and challenging projects, which keeps the team on its toes and makes for really engaging project work.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I live on the coast just West of San Francisco, so it’s a fair bet to look for me either at the beach or hiking in the redwoods nearby. To be fair, my best ideas for helping Jupiter clients usually come in these moments when I step away from the project, so I am not sure if it counts…Tough question!

Working with my extremely smart and enthusiastic colleagues.

Somewhere sketching (I am trying to get to the level where I can create photorealistic drawings) or singing ’90s karaoke.  Sometimes both at the same time.
